the thing is both fatboy and polo are the manifestation or the realization of each other's wish. polo sought a life he could have with fatboy but he only wastes that on fantasy about a woman. polo dreams a better life by doing whatever it takes, fatboy dreams of like of ease, supplemented by his status --> therefore chasing superficial and "unattainable" things
