Nathan was right, I do really enjoy this. It’s cute but also exhilarating. Well-written, strong archetypal cast of characters. I can see why this won multiple Eisners. It’s also quite dark. So far I read the first four stories, and out of those, the first one and the third ones are my favorite. The third one with the werewolf boy was great, and I teared up at the end, it was really well constructed. The first one

remains my favorite, though, just because of how wholesome it is and sets up the entire premise so perfectly.
Also, just for a time-keeping memento, I started reading this July 5th (really the early morning of the 6th) just after writing a poem I titled, “In Essence of the Water.”
