So Laertes and Polonius are telling Ophelia to stop being gullible and falling for Hamlet's 'love' for her. On the one hand, this is disturbing as they are being very controlling and this is probably the best way to think about it. But knowing that later Hamlet is going to be rude to her and dismiss her, overall their actions seem correct. (Even though they aren't right to be controlling her)

The introduction is interesting, it shows that the play is full of contradictions, maybe Shakespeare wanted it to seem thoughtful and philosophical?Watts says that Jones said that Hamlet might've had the Freudian 'Oedipus complex' so he thinks that Hamlet might've been unconsciously into his mom. Claudius murdering his dad and marrying his mom seemed relatable to Hamlet.That's why he hesitated to kill Claudius. Crazy
