This series looks so interesting, but something about it is pretty intimidating.

I always thought the same thing. I'd looked at it off and on for several years before a friend read it and said it was really good. The first two books are really long books, but they ended up going pretty quick anyway as they're a pretty easy read, I think. The setting is fascinating and well written. I would definitely classify the books as Historical Fiction, Mystery, Thriller and not really Horror.

The first one is on my fall TBR, so I should really do it this year.
