I fin compilations of short stories mostly a disappointment compared to the authors' standard writing of 300-400 page books. Sometimes I think they are asked to write a story to fit the desired compilation and it just doesn't mesh with their normal course. I also think it is very hard to write a novella or short story within 100 pages that has the kind of development and detail that supports the story line.

Unimpressive. So far, I like the third story the best. Thomas' story wasn't her typical historical writing and was a letdown. Broday's story okay, but the word "catawampus" seemed important for her to use more than once in the short story. The third story, buy Miranda was the best so far, but she was in love with the word, "honyock". Had to look it up. With all the westerns I've read, never heard the word before.
