This part was delightful to me: “some of the more enterprising shop fitters turned to interior design, fitting stands upon which to display shoes in the shop itself, or in one case, in Portsmouth, installing an aquarum complete with goldfish and South African lobsters in which to tastefully display waterproof items.”
