Ngl, page 88 poem really put me off because I just can't understand it in any way other than a pick-me narcissistic girl who's pretending she's unforgettable and incomparable and is humiliating another woman
I seriously dissected this poem, read it over 15 times, did research, and have been thinking about it for 24 hours (not exaggerating) and there is no other way to understand it

I was wondering why Rupi writes in lower case, and found this on her website -- abridged edited response:

@tiff no seriously I read 5 different dissertations today just to try to understand how this fits in her feminist approach, and I still don't see itSpiral is the word for it!
My take is that It’s showing that unhealthy ideas about love and control can be learned from family. The poem isn’t blaming the little boy… it’s blaming what he grew up seeing.

Here's the one I am referring to:
the woman who comes after me will be a bootleg version
of who i am. she will try and write poems for you to erase

will never lick, caress, or suck like me. she will be a sad

of falling apart for a man that doesn’t give back what he
takes she will recognize me in your eyelids staring at her
with pity and it’ll hit her. how can she love a man who is
busy loving someone he can never get his hands on again.
