I’m honest to goodness with Lillias at this point. Grace needs to stop reading her novels. She’s acting like a freaking ten year old. A dude is at her door and she thinks he’s a ghost. And continues to think he’s a ghost afterwards for a time.
… and this girl is supposed to be married with (adopted) kids??

I do love a good dose of humor (my love of Spy X Family can attest to this) however, here, it seems entirely too much based off the subject matter. A close family member has been murdered, another one is suspected, and a last was nearly killed, and yet there’s so much teasing and humorous quips, it’s annoying me and doesn’t fit right. It feels almost disrespectful and unrealistic in light of murder.

Starting my first Pepper Basham book! I’ve heard a lot of good things about her as an author, so hoping it lives up to the hype!
I do know this is… the fourth? Book in the series, so I am expecting some references to things that have happened before, but I’m hoping I can still read this as a stand alone as this is the only one I have.
I’m looking forward to the Scottish castle + murder mystery vibes!
