back in the 70s you could write a comic where beloved superhero green lantern got called a nazi for neglecting the plight of black people in america during and after the civil rights movement. he then learns a valuable lesson about how heroes are meant to fight for human dignity and freedom, and not just against giant monsters.

nowadays, the glc is just flavourless military propaganda. so we’ve come a long way!!
