So far, it just isn't written like the others books I've read and loved by this author. His writing is usually beautiful, almost poetic. Certainly literary fiction. This feel more like an attempt to create a book for a large audience. I guess that's the nicest way to put it. It's still out in the woods, but it's just not the same. No gorgeous writing, no atmosphere created that is powerful and even haunting at times.
