I can see why readers didn’t rate this one highly compared to the rest of the series. The pacing is horrible. I have basically been reading pages and pages of exposition explaining the tech, objects and animals of his world. Meanwhile, I have no clue what either of the characters’ motivation or goals are. And the spice is non-existent. Seems like there’s a lot of set up being done for other books later.
