today i read about the main characters life as a kid and how he was raised by his uncle and grandmother and one night they were asleep and the house caught on fire and he tried to wake them up and get them out of the hose but they wouldn't wake up and they were too heavy for him to carry and burned to death in the house.

my favorite part of the book so far is realizing the shift in the main characters life and how things have changed for him and how the times have changed as the years have gone on.

my favorite character in the book so far is the main character because well he's really the only character they have gone in depth with so far in the story and he seems very kind and caring but not understood
