“From the second he opened his mouth, it was clear that Dr. James Sims wasn’t the typical Montana State University researcher.” SO many passages begin like this & it’s unbearable!

Hate this notion of one guy doing one thing/having one idea that changed/started everything. Great man theory. It’s dependant on everything & everyone around you wanting/needing it. Which means, you could’ve been replaced at any moment as ‘the great instigator’. You were lucky. Which is the American delusion; rephrasing luck as a talented decision/motion. & then selling the water as luck-elixir, snake oil…

Back at complaining before even beginning I KNOW but fuck. Hate how Americans must build a grand ‘this one guy beat all the odds!’ narrative. Every. Single. Time. To make a book about the importance of community and slow and steady work only to still fall for the oldest scam in the book. It’s not radical and it’s not crazy, get some humbleness in your system.

Too early to say, but god the American author cannot help but repeat himself over and over again without changing the words, only the sentence structure. Very anti-intellectual trait… whatever. he’s a farmer not a poet.
