I will never forget The Four Winds's depiction of the Dust Bowl. Before that book, I had never heard of the horrible dust filled air for days.

Reading the introduction and I happen to find it very useful, because it mentioned that Steinbeck intentionally made the odd numbered chapters about the migrants and general landscape. The even numbered chapters are about the Joad family. I didn't catch that the first time I read it.

Pre-read: I know, I know, I can't believe it myself too. I'm returning to a book I read and rated one star in 2022. I'm reading this for a PMW merit badge (probably the only way you could get me to read this again!)
