I wish that the protagonist had more agency, more drive in her desperation to save her children. It feels like she's made reckless choices before to help them, but now in the timeline we're reading in all her choices are being moved by one man she hired, and or someone else, and it feels like the plot is moving her. It doesn't feel right for her character to me that she isn't doing more.

The protagonist is lacking so much agency most of this novel feels like a waiting game until the end and it makes the novel boring, even when something happens, because the protagonist isn't doing anything to make it happen. I just wish she would have taken more risks earlier on.

Currently loving the prose and story progression. I don't have any strong negative feelings about the book, but I am consistently being blown away by the author's technique. Likely to rate this book a solid 3.5 to 4 star read, especially as it has been helping me improve my own writing. I do wish I was more emotionally moved though, more afraid of Peter Pan, more concerned about the protagonist and her mother.

Great pacing, feels like I'm being consistently hooked, I'm invested in the characters and in their fates emotionally. So far it's a solid novel.
