The religion Farnese and her Holy Iron Chain Knights subscribe to and its statue is quite interesting! It looks like a bird nailed to a stake and there are threads looped around it coming from an egg or a Behelit (I’ve seen a closer illustration in the next volume when I flipped through the first few pages) it is interesting. The fact that the Holy Iron Chain Knights are inexperienced will make things really bad.

I like Vice-Commander Iron Club Azan! Azan the Bridge Knight! And I do like his chivalry! It is so nice to see. His armor is so cool too! I hope nothing bad happens to him.

Guts is followed by evil spirits and it will become very clear to Farnese and the others what they’re dealing with. Puck is still at large so hopefully he can help Guts! I laughed so hard when he started fighting the evil spirits and coming to the conclusion that he is stronger than Guts! It was great!

I liked this volume a lot! “The Beast of Darkness” was really good. Can we talk about the skull knight eating the Behelit? What was that about? Why did he do it? It is called the Egg of the King and I believe that he is the King from that old tale. But why eat it? I have so many questions. I’m afraid that Farnese might use the one Guts had. I’m scared.

And this is a weird remark but Farnese (the leader of the Holy Iron Chain Knights) reminds me so much of Needle Knight Leda from the Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree. I don’t know what it is about her that reminds me of Leda but I think it’s her bearing? I’m interested to see what happens in her storyline that the Lost Children chapter is over.

I love the art so much! It is wonderful! And I love the different POVs. I remember I once saw someone talk about how Miura was influenced by Shoujo manga (少女漫画) and it is very clear in this volume and the previous one. It is so beautiful!

I think I’ve figured out how the Behelit works! It seems like it needs blood (both Griffith and Rosine were injured and their blood dripped onto it) and for the one who has it to be at the lowest point in their lives. It is interesting! It is interesting to see Guts struggle with humanity and Rosine not being the clear cut villain. I love this story so much!

The Holy Iron Chain Knights are a very interesting element to the story. And their leader seems hellbent on catching Guts herself. Azan was speculating that Guts is the “Hawk of Darkness” but I wonder if that’s so. Since to me it seems more like a title for Griffith but who knows at this point. And there is also the prophecy thing! Which is fascinating! I’ll always love a prophecy in my story.

I wish Guts could’ve taken Jill along with him but I think it is a mercy that he didn’t. As death clings to his every footstep. His last words to her moved me so much! I love Berserk so much (despite all its flaws) it has affected me on such a deep level.
