Just started a reread because 1) this book has lived rent-free in my head for the 15 years since I first read it; and 2) I never read the other two books in the trilogy (and I hear the second might be even better).

It goes much faster the second time when you already have all the weird stuff preloaded in your imagination, and you can better pick up the humor in the overwrought prose.
