Interesting how messengers were forced to literally eat the letter on multiple occasions as a show of contempt for the sender. The many roles of servants and a castles staff are also interesting, such as the almsgiver who collected table scraps, old horses, and as much money as the lord would provide to give to the poor and sick each day
