It also presented a lot of characters, secondary characters along with characters being introduced under one name as in chief of police Strickland, and then Violet refers to him as Matthew. This is very confusing to me as a reader. However, maybe the second dairy characters have been developed in previous novels of this series.

The beginning was also confusing. In chapter one we learned the victims name but then in chapter two, the language was alluding to us, not knowing the victims name and then there was this “big reveal“

I want to give this a low rating but that seems unfair as it’s the first novel of this series I have read, but it’s the sixth produced in the series. I also feel
Some of the formatting is off. There were no breaks so timelines felt continuous yet something would be taking place in the morning then they hop of the trolly and it’s nighttime.
