The novel suffers from Nicholas's self-indulgence, and it bored me to DEATH for the first three quarters. Luckily, the climax seems to be rewarding me for the sludge I've been dredging myself through the past 2 months.

I have a full quarter of the novel left to go, so let's see if it sticks the landing - else this novel is getting a 1.5 star rating for being a waste of potential (and, more unforgivingly, my time).
