oh. there's a part two.

part one didn't seem to close off at a turning point which is why this was unexpected. so far it feels like listening to someone reminiscing. i'm not too sure about this as nothing interesting has happened? i'll give it a little longer

i think this has mildly plagarised from twin peaks???! the popular girl who is murdered. the girls who knew her hanging out in a vinyl coffee shop booth. the boyfriend james. um. it could be a coincidence. if there's a one-eyed-jacks or dad who gets possessed by an evil spirit included i'm gonna be all in

oh man. now donna beth (and her mum) have been murdered by her father. the horrible thing is i'm not even surprised, that stuff happens all the time. is this story now or is it a blip?

so now her dad is watching law and order in the living room and she's in the bathtub cutting herself. this book gives me mixed feelings. i was about to stop but now want to keep going. i'm surprised it got published

chapter 12 disturbed my tranquility. there's nothing wrong with this book but i might not finish this

this is the most 90s thing ever

wtf. the hippy parents have morphed. dad is the dean of something at the university, mom hosts parties with hors d'oeuvres and they have a HOUSEKEEPER. this is the most off-puttingly middle class thing ever. maybe the hippy thing was their rebellion and once it was out of their system you get this ugh

ah this is better after a few drinks. i liked how celine says "i don't think i love him". out loud and at that age! so weird, their family seems f*cking nice, a couple of hippy parents and conservative grandparents, it's idyllic. i think it's just because of the distance and his not being around as much. this book is catching now

this reads like it should be a voiceover or an audiobook. even though it's third person, the way it's written seems to mimic normal speech in a way other books don't typically do
