I don’t even have the full context yet, but it breaks my heart knowing a situation so difficult has broken the beautiful spirit that Jude truly is. Such a kind and lovely person in a world that did not treat him right in his childhood, now in his adulthood trying to move through his life fearing everything and hating himself. Hope I can soon see him talk about his trauma and find peace. <3

p. 48 and 49 are the epitome of the 20s crisis. So many of us are trying to figure out what to do with our lives, and as a society we have decided that choosing the predetermined option is just simply not enough anymore. Happiness is a requirement. Constantly asking yourself, am I lazy? not ambitious enough? I relate to Willem so, so much in these passages.

p. 33 has a very interesting quote about making art; I love the way JB thinks about it and did actually set into motion his ideas of art through what he observed through his friends; « le quotidien », ordinary, everyday life.
Jude especially is quite the interesting subject to capture for this. I don’t really know what his context is yet, but he seems to be such a source of life.
