“Show, don’t tell” is overrated and misused. People recite it as if it’s religious dogma, but here’s the thing: there are times when you NEED to tell. There are times when telling delivers a scene more effectively than showing ever can.

It’s not a matter of one being better than the other, but knowing when to use which, and using it well.
