Tyun is funny as hell for the way he weasels out of these situations, like he’s lowkey the king of improv for taking them from wanted for corpse thievery to fed a mutton dinner and given a nice place to sleep

The evolution of Nicephorus’s nicknames from Dreamer > Pretty Boy > Dream Boy oh I’m sure

That entire melodramatic funeral diversion was very comedic, I wish more of the book had moments like that

Nicked could really do with focusing more on character work and less on historical anecdote. There are so many named characters that it feels like I don’t know anything about and even the main characters I feel like I don’t know that much about. Less lengthy tangents about the works of Saint and more establishing of the characters in THIS book please 😩

This book really doesn’t seem like it has the flow or structure of a novel. Rather, it has the tone of dry historical accounts with a loose connection of characters. I’m consistently struggling to maintain pace with what’s happening from one dry historical anecdote to another.
