The hypocrisy continues. Author goes on a tirade about how negligent the Parks Service is for not caring for the parks in ways he thinks they should. Then he whines that the Park Service forces backwoods hikers to stay on the trail and sleep in designated spots… you know… to protect the park and wildlife.

This author really wants you to believe that you tempt certain death every time you go outside either from vicious animals, deadly diseases, or poor Appalachians. He wants you to know just how much a brave manly man he is. Every time he starts in on how big and scary the AT is, all I can think of is how Grandma Gatewood hiked it at 67 with tennis shoes.
