Umm Isa Wow you can actually read Arabic books? How did you learn it if I may ask?

i can barely read these kids' versions. it has only few lines. i know enough to go by but my vocab is so limited. but i guess i know simple verb conjugations, present, past and future tenses, prepositions and other small details to understand once i know the words.

i really didn't learn straightforwardly. i learnt bits from many places on and off over a few years but just came back to learn again this year after about 3 years i think. i made the biggest progress this year bc at first i actually really made the intention that i'm somehow going to learn arabic. i tried duolingo. it's not good but it helped me familiarise myself with a decent vocab. it's very underdeveloped and short and i finished it so i'm now doing the english course by arabic on duolingo for the same reasons. it helps with motivation when i'm getting bored with learning bc it's gamified. sort of. i also tried the madina books by dr. v. abdurrahim. i did the first book. some others also recommend arabiyya bayna yadayk bc it seems effective with vocab etc. there are loads of videos explaining both of these books on youtube. i watch 'madrastuna' channel's explanations for the madina book. also, i tried alif bee and it's infinitely better than duolingo but it's not fully free. i also use anki to memorize chunks of phrases and vocab. i guess it would be a whole lot better to get a structured course

now i'm just trying to listen to arabic content like cartoons and read short stories like this. i add the new vocab to anki and it's going okay. also trying to do the lessons in madina book 2

one of my friends here on goodreads suggested using chatgpt. i use it a lot to test myself etc. you can actually make it create a whole curriculum for you and then teach and test you.
