Catalyst Project need to shift from “call-out culture” to “build-up culture”. Instead of shaming people for their mistakes and regulating language; lift up principled action and leadership.

Shift from individual focus to collective action. Instead of asking of “how to be the single best white antiracist activist?” Ask “how can we bring more people into social justice?”

Interesting POV about the lack of demands in Occupy Wall Street being a strength because it could lead to selling oneself short.

They reference the Montgomery Bus Boycotts and how the initial desire was for a “segregation with dignity” where Black people could move up in the bus and not be forced to be moved when a White person sat behind them. It was not originally set out to end all segregation.

Finished Chapter 6 “Is Teach For America Saving Our Children?”. The answer is no and it has been used not to fill teaching spots where there are a shortage of teachers but to help prop up charter schools. Most prominent example were the influx of young, White graduates being funneled into New Orleans for TFA as veteran, Black teachers were laid off without notice.

On chapter 5 where it discusses the hypocrisy of the mainstream media where they portray themselves as having no bias while having fundamental biases on what they report and how they report it.

On page 77 it talks about how a better future/society needs to be depicted more in media rather than succumbing to dystopianism.
