Many thought-provoking, interesting takes on art in general with special focus on the genre of novel and drama. The author tends to exclude non-Western reference points, the essays orbit around artists of Europe and North America. Which is not surprising since most of them were written in the ‘60s and Susan is American but I think she still missed out on a great deal of valuable references.
