Love the description of the ethnic enclaves on the subway: “Irish, Salvadorans, Mexicans; Mexicans, Sri Lankans, Nigerians — the only thing uniting them being their newness to America and their identically expressions of exhaustion, that blend of determination and resignation that only the immigrant posses” (p.32)
