it's good. can't quite put my finger on it, but feels like it's missing something
auctioneer could have been more charismatic and subtle w plans at the beginning. hardly a slow drip which i feel is what author intended
in general the auctioneer as a character - from someone w charisma, to an evil force, fell a bit flat
- the moores were inconsistent in such a way that i couldn't tell if truly intentional

it's like a B+ all around from structure to characters to prose

i also get she's trying to present a fluid and constant rotation of blame internally and externally but the way it shifts is awkwardly abrupt imo
eg shifting from blaming john to not and john shifting from i'll do something to giving up the oscillations make sense but the way they're written lacks realism the constant threat of action while propagating inaction for so long feels incongruent. the behavior makes sense but the ratios are so skewed that it ruins the message to a degree
