The plot is going sooo slow, and that would be fine if the romance was good, but it’s not. It’s far from good.

Chapter 36 was easily one of the strongest chapters in the book. The betrayal finally felt like it mattered, and I was excited to see the fallout. Unfortunately, chapter 40 completely ruined it. She forgave him after what felt like a fucking second. One sob story about his parents, and she’s ready to move on? The betrayal deserved actual consequences, not a conversation that magically fixed everything.

At this point, the only reason I haven’t DNF’d this is because I really want to read the the second book in this series (Hazel’s story), and I refuse to be confused because I skipped this one.

I genuinely enjoy the main character… as long as her love interest isn’t around. The moment they share a scene, she becomes significantly less enjoyable.

The excessive time skips completely kill the pacing. Instead of letting readers experience important moments, the story constantly jumps ahead and expects us to fill in the blanks ourselves. One page she’s terrified of using her divine, and the next she’s suddenly “one with the divine and not fighting against it”. Where did that character development happen?
