McCarthy writes prose like Van Gogh wielded paint or Jimi Hendrix played the guitar, remaking the landscape as he traverses it. While this is only his second novel, the vast majority of the writing has the authority and gravitas of a masterful artist, speaking in a language that at times seems entirely his own.
