rereading this feels like an interaction between animal and hunter, when the creature is fearful, but doesn't know its demise awaits it. I remember reading this last year and thinking that maybe the ending wouldn't be devastating, and finny and autumn would love each other forevermore. My naivete convinces me that maybe the coming death is really love. In this way, I am both like the metaphorical deer and sniper.
