I liked the history part. I liked the magic (though dull and heavily underused), but I did not like the characters. The bond between them is unjustified. I didn't feel anything between them, I didn't feel overwhelmed with emotion when things happened, and I specifically did not understand why Robin did certain things in the book. It feels like he has many contradictory characteristics that are not part of himself.
