Read a lot that the author is an asshole, but recently I read that this book is funny and I’m a sucker for that. The first few pages already provided the needed ingredient: “was bulgur really necessary?” is one of the angsty questions of yuppies in the time the book takes place.

So far, it reminds me a lot of John Irving’s World According to Garp. Angsty people watching each other and lots of detailed descriptions, including of side figures (which is why I keep putting Garp away).
