There is a thing he’s done now 2 1/2 times within the first 100 pages that really leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Which is really disappointing because the tone and structures of the stories so far have been pretty great.
that's disappointing. I'm having the same experience (albeit not to the point of considering DNFing) with the 40k anthology I'm reading right now, although in that case it's specifically a thing that personally irks me rather than an objective problem with the book, but eh
That’s kinda where I’m at too! Like I totally understand it’s a Me Problem™️ but I want to finish it because it’s a book club thing (and I’ve gone on record with them saying I wouldn’t not finish one of ours lol)
I shall look forward to seeing what your review says, at least! (which reminds me, I gotta sit down and finish my Song of Achilles review... )
