Is the book a light read or more heavy/dark? I’m guessing it’s the latter since it’s about slavery. Right?

Hola Samuel. Definitely a heavy, dark read. And no, it’s set in the early 1900s in a black town called The Bottom. I’m not gonna lie though, I don’t understand understand 😭
