Really, cleopatra in a bed sack as legit? Gah.

Also sometimes feels like women are being shoehorned in rather than an intrinsic part of the story because it’s still trying to tell the classic story of battles and political intrigue. Cake and eat it?

Conflicted.
Some interesting points, and pleasant to have women like Atossa at the forefront.
And yet.
No sustained attempt at differentiating hearsay or random historian’s words, for a possible political purpose, from real history. Occasionally - but that only makes the other bits that are blithely accepted as true even worse.
Also, occasional mentions of China don’t make it global.
