Tanizaki is a strange author- some stories in this book are enjoyable, some are frustrating, some are just plain weird, but they’re all beautiful showcases of Tanizaki’s prose.

I re-read this after disliking The Siren’s Lament- and if you are curious about Tanizaki I would strongly point you in the direction of this collection, not The Siren’s Lament.
