i owned this book many years ago. i purchased a secondhand copy because i hated the Tyler Perry movie adaptation with a passion, and i knew there could be no way it was to the fault of the original author. i started reading it rather young; i was a junior in high school and let it breathe because there were things i couldn't yet grasp. now that i'm older, this book feels like a bath set with Epsom salt.
