this book makes me annoyed the more i ruminate on it post read

so many plot holes and inconsistencies with this story and this genre

so thats annoying
on top of so much no included and left out of the story
which makes it all feel very much lacking

it was such a short story
and yet
i found myself distracted and wanting to leave to do other things rather than reading all the way through

which
i think ive experienced before from this author
this is not a good sign imo
as it denotes a pattern in the writing style that doesnt mesh with me

overall
besides some of the humor and surface level details
this was a forgettable story and not one ill linger on

i didnt love this
which is a shame

im also not likely to reread this or consider it a comfort read
but it will prob serve as a textbook example of many good writings, particulary the humor it had throughout

mostly
i cant help but move all the good stuff to the side

alot of this was fucking boring
and a little sad
babies dying and all

and mainly
not enough depth

ill start with

this was a delightful read
the majority of the time

i highlighted and bookmarked at least a dozen passages bc they were so entertaining and mostly funny

im rating three stars

HOWEVER

“Sometimes i crave touch so badly, i hug myself with my own tail, just to feel the squeeze, to be able to pretend, even if for a somewhat unsatisfying moment, that im being touched by another person.”

😢 😭

just that imagery deserves a three stars rating automatically

i just hope the rest of this book improves

very sure this is a reread

though i didnt recall how tediously introspective this is

chapter one was the mmcs pov
and NO dialogue at all

just pure expositional info dump and inner thoughts of the mmc

its just, i find my mind wandering to do anything else but read these boring passages
