I think I am actually going to save this book for later. It's not that I don't like it, but I want to start some fiction that I've been meaning to pick up rather than a memoir.

Not even that far into the book and I'm already seeing some of the Argentine ingenuity that I think is charming and fascinating. The author says she's too poor to afford to be buried en el cementerio de Recoleta, but that's no problem, because she challenges her friends to throw her ashes behind the doors of a tomb that she likes. That's a free burial, right there

It's been over a decade since I've read a full-length book in Spanish. Mariana Enriquez is an award winning Argentinian author, and I have been missing Latin America lately, so I thought I would give her work a try. When I studied abroad, I lived very close to the Recoleta cemetery in Buenos Aires, which is essentially a maze of mausoleums. I'll be interested to hear an Argentinian's mediations about it.
