had some gripes at the end of Poppy Wars, but unfortunately this took them & kept running. main character unfortunately is unlikeable, doesn't learn or grow from her mistakes, doesn't do anything. random fanfic-esque angst. idc about the plot anymore, i just dont care about the characters at all. except I still vaguely like Kitay. disappointing bc i really wanted to love this series

I'm frustrated because, again, I liked the first book, but this is so inconsistent and disorienting!!! The plot and characters are disjointed on levels that are comparable to Onyx Storm. The action is boring. The relationships are spastic. Nezha is apparently a huge crybaby now? And Rin is still just a raging adolescent with few to no redeemable qualities. I'm tired
