Some of these essays are more writerly, others more academic: they all deserve slow reading, and pondering. I'm learning something about Angela Carter, I'm enjoying it, I'm savoring it. It's one of those books you'll go back and reread, at times, when another shard of understanding hits you.

An essays book such as this one deserves slow, careful reading. Some essays are quite personal, as well, some more academic than others (these others are more writerly). I'm learning something about Angela Carter. I'm enjoying it. I'm savoring it.
