Inverse perspective on the war in Afghanistan told by a boy being raised in America returning home to his family. There’s also a chapter entirely in colloquial Pakhto, which the author resisted being “made consumable for an English readership,” and which apparently the internet has respected enough to have it nowhere to be found—which I found quite humbling.
Lots of animal abuse though yikes.
