Yet again we look and behind those still, unmoving features there is a passion and an emotion, strange and more powerful than the passion and emotions we have known. His eyes are closed, but… a vital energy fills the frame.

Yet, often enough, elections brought out the evil side of man, and it was obvious that they did not always lead to the success of the better man. Sensitive persons, and those who were not prepared to adopt rough-and-ready methods to push themselves forward, were at a disadvantage... Was democracy then to be a close preserve of those possessing thick skins and loud voices and accommodating consciences?
