In Çatalhöyük and Hacılar in Turkey as well as parts of ancient Europe there are no signs of fortification for battle around the villages. Locations were most likely chosen for beauty, access to resources, but not strategic battle advantage. There are also clear archeological signs of women playing key roles in a cogendered administrative society.
