A thought-provoking chapter on self-worth - finding our identity in Christ, not in ourselves or other idols in our lives. There are ways we can practice healthy self-love and self-care. She mentioned the book, Boundaries, talking about how it’s our responsibility to manage our life, our time and our body as gifts. Through reflection questions, I realize I have grown and matured in this area but can still improve.

The chapter on negative self-talk that I thought I’d fly through and balk at was actually incredibly impactful! This is an area I’ve worked in for years, even with some guided counseling, but I still have work to do and always will . A common theme is staying in God’s Word consistently!

This chapter on joy was insightful and a good reminder! How it’s okay to feel your pain, yet fight for your joy. How perfectionism is a joy-buster and ways to look for a meaningful life, not a perfect one. How joy is a gift of the Holy Spirit… when we fight for it, it actually armors us against spiritual attack and strengthens God’s Spirit within us. Noteworthy!!!!

Anxiety is a tough one for me… the best takeaway is staying in Gods word every day so His truths are fresh in my heart and mind.

This chapter on friendships was not my favorite and kind of “meh,” but I understand the point of it. My favorite quote: “The goal is not to find the perfect companions, but rather, strong companions to journey with: friends who bring out your best, share your goals, and ride your waves with you.”

Enjoying the chapter on rest… this is an area God has really worked with me on in the past several years. I like being busy, so it has been challenging, but I am starting to see the fruits of learning to rest. Setting healthy boundaries and pacing myself is what I’m still really working on.

I read the 11-page intro and worked through the reflection questions. I am BLOWN AWAY with this book! What a gift it was to receive this at this time in my life! I’ve never felt so understood by an author I don’t even know! I need this in my life right now DESPERATELY! It is going to help me reprioritize some things!
