For the protagonist being on a secret mission, ain’t shit secret. Surely the info dumping is done now & we can get to the tension, mystery, intrigue, buildup…? I miss you, Caitlin Starling.

Also, based on the reviews, this writing style will only continue. This makes me not want to persevere through this “exposition” that’s choking me.

Yeah, I’m not reading this 😭 I think it’s objectively poorly written. All I’ve been reading this whole time is the protagonist’s inner monologue/introspection. I’d love to be shown instead of told; crazy concept! The editor(s) needed a heavier hand. Since that’s what I do for work, I’m critical about editing, or lack thereof. There are entire paragraphs that could be condensed into a single sentence.

But again, it especially doesn’t work in a thriller novel 😵‍💫 I’ll keep trying to read this book for a bit longer, idk…

I know everything about their government, space travel, the House of Wisdom incident, the protagonist’s background/family/motivations, the political divide, what group the protagonist belongs to, what their mission is & what they want… & more. Long paragraph after paragraph of textbook style information. (Continued again…)

Holy info dump. I know literally everything about the world building, setting, & premise within the first 10 pages. I’m tempted to DNF right here. That’s bad with any novel, but ESPECIALLY a thriller?? (Continued…)
