Still isn't doing it for me. It's rife with info-dumps, that while I'm sure are historically accurate, don't really serve to further the story, or at least, too much info to too little story in terms of ratio.

Did this book really do the "as you know" method of exposition? Well, anyway, still not fond of it. Maybe I'm being uncharitable, but I get the sense the author is more concerned about showing what he knows about Rome, and less concerned about plot or character. Time will tell I guess.
